Oscar Circulair is a Dutch startup on a mission to make cities waste-free. Founded in 2019, the company aims to reduce residual waste streams, aggregate high-quality raw material streams for reusability, and enhance the livability of an area by minimizing (polluting) transportation movements. In an effort to achieve this, Oscar utilizes a small and sustainable vehicle to personally collect waste and raw materials from participants seven days a week, including individuals with disabilities. The collected items are then transported to a hub in the area, where value streams and residual waste are combined and, if possible, compacted before being transported out of the city to processors that reintroduce the raw materials into the production process. The latest €1.50M Venture Round investment, secured on 24 April 2023, was contributed by DOEN Participaties, Rabo Foundation, and Social Impact Fonds Rotterdam (SIFR). This strategic funding is set to bolster Oscar Circulair in its pursuit of a sustainable and waste-free urban landscape.
