OS-Climate

OS-Climate, with the slogan "Open source breakthrough for climate-smart investing," is a groundbreaking initiative established in 2018. It operates under the Linux Foundation and aims to create a transparently governed public utility of open data and open source tools for climate-aligned finance investing, business, and regulation. The initiative adopts an open collaboration approach to address data gaps impeding the rapid scalability of the transition of capital toward a resilient Net Zero economy.

The OS-Climate initiative has garnered support from a prestigious lineup of members, including industry giants such as Airbus, Allianz, Amazon, BNP Paribas, BNY Mellon, EY, Federated Hermes, Goldman Sachs, KPMG, London Stock Exchange Group, Microsoft, and the Net Zero Asset Owner Alliance. Academic and NGO members such as CPI, Open Climate Foundation, Polytechnique, and World Benchmarking Alliance support the initiative.

OS-C's mission is supported by a formidable team, including members from WWF, SASB (now Value Reporting Foundation), and Ceres, who contribute their expertise in data science, modeling, and software development towards building the OS-C Data Commons. This federated library of libraries of corporate and factor data, along with analytics tools, aims to derive actionable metrics crucial for various aspects of asset allocation, portfolio construction, security analysis, corporate engagement, strategic planning, and transition investment by corporates, and financial sector supervision.
