New Orleans Firemen's Federal Credit Union (NOFFCU) is a pioneering federally chartered credit union, established in 1934 with the aim of providing financial support to the employees of the New Orleans Fire Department. Initially formed to combat the challenges of high-interest rates and loan rejections due to the risky nature of their jobs, NOFFCU has since evolved. In the early 1990s, the organization took a strategic decision to diversify and extend its services to other local employer groups, paving the way for expansion and growth.
Today, NOFFCU stands as a robust financial institution, serving more than 27,000 members and partnering with over 300 local companies to deliver credit union services. With nine full-service branches across multiple counties in the United States, NOFFCU continues to thrive as a stable and successful entity in the Financial Services sector.
The recent $3.72M grant investment secured on 10 April 2023 from the Community Development Financial Institutions Fund further underscores NOFFCU's potential for continued growth and contribution to the financial well-being of its members and local communities.
