New Directions for Veterans (NDVets) is a nonprofit organization established in 1992 with the mission of empowering men and women who served in the military, and their families, to lead productive and fulfilling lives. The organization addresses the challenges faced by veterans after military service, particularly focusing on Los Angeles-area homeless veterans and those at risk of homelessness. Founded by two formerly homeless Vietnam veterans and a local advocate for homeless individuals, NDVets has significantly expanded its efforts since its humble beginnings in a five-bedroom home serving eight homeless Vietnam War veterans. Today, NDVets operates several impactful programs, including four Transitional Housing Programs, a rapid re-housing and homelessness prevention program called Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF), and six Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) facilities in Los Angeles County. The organization is committed to helping veterans effectively transform their lives and reintegrate into society. While there is no specific information about the latest investment or investors, the impact and reach of NDVets' programs demonstrate their potential for delivering meaningful social and humanitarian outcomes. As a United States-based initiative, NDVets embodies the essence of social entrepreneurship by combining a noble cause with strategic programs to address homelessness amongst veterans.
