NATUVA is a Turkish startup that aims to bring the unique and healthy value of the endemic variety of grape known as Kokulu Üzüm, or Medicinal Grape, from the Black Sea region to the forefront. The company produces a range of handmade, additive-free delicacies with the distinct aroma and health benefits of this grape.
Founded in 2021, NATUVA processes 7 tons of Kokulu Üzüm, producing 20,000 units of value-added products in 2021 and planning to increase this to 10 tons and 40,000 units in 2022. The company operates an artisanal facility in Trabzon Maçka, where it also supports local women and youth in employment, contributing to the regional economy.
NATUVA's products, including Kokulu Üzüm juice, marmalade, vinegar, Pepeçura (a famous Black Sea dessert made from Kokulu Üzüm), Koruk sourdough, pickles, and stuffed grape leaves, are now available nationwide through various online platforms and niche restaurants and markets, expanding the reach of this regional treasure.
Driven by a focus on sustainable production and the health benefits of this resilient plant, NATUVA is committed to increasing its production using traditional methods while promoting the well-being of both people and nature. All products are made exclusively from untreated (pesticide-free) Kokulu Üzüm in compliance with the Turkish Food Codex.
