National Broadcasting Company - Company Profile

NBC (National Broadcasting Company) is a renowned American English language commercial broadcast television network. It is a flagship property of NBCUniversal, a subsidiary of Comcast. The network, headquartered in the Comcast Building (formerly known as the GE Building) at Rockefeller Center in New York City, has major offices near Los Angeles and Chicago and is soon expanding to Philadelphia at Comcast Innovation and Technology Center. Established in 1926 by the Radio Corporation of America (RCA), NBC is the oldest major broadcast network in the United States. NBC became a part of the GE conglomerate through a $6.4 billion purchase of RCA in 1986. After General Electric's acquisition, Bob Wright served as CEO until his retirement in 2007, and subsequently, Jeff Zucker took over. In 2003, Vivendi merged its entertainment assets with GE, forming NBC Universal. The transition continued when Comcast took control in 2011 and acquired GE's remaining stake in 2013. Subsequently, Steve Burke succeeded Zucker as CEO. NBC has thirteen owned-and-operated stations and nearly 200 affiliates throughout the United States, with additional reach in Canada, South Korea, and Germany through brand licensing agreements. Overall, NBC presents a strong history and foothold in the broadcasting landscape, combined with a growing international presence, making it an appealing prospect for potential investment and strategic partnerships.
