Munoth Industries Limited (MIL) is venturing into the establishment of India’s first Li-ion cell manufacturing unit. With a planned total capacity of 1.25 GW, the company is strategically setting up a state-of-the-art facility. The facility will incorporate advanced automatic machines from leading companies, alongside high-quality ancillary units to uphold strict cleanliness and humidity standards essential for producing top-notch cells. MIL has secured 30 acres of land from Andhra Pradesh Industrial Investment Corporation for all phases of the project and has obtained the necessary building approvals from Tirupati Urban Development Authority. Furthermore, the project has garnered approval and a host of fiscal benefits from the State Government of Andhra Pradesh and has been endorsed under the Modified Special Incentives Package scheme by the Ministry of Electronic & Information Technology, New Delhi. The phase I of the project, with an outlay of Rs 165 crores, will encompass a 20,000 square meter manufacturing facility, employing 250 individuals. The construction of the factory is on track for completion in September 2019, and commercial production is slated for October/November 2019. In its initial phase, the installed capacity of the project will be 250MW, with plans to increase it fivefold over the next 3 years. With its strategic positioning and comprehensive planning, MIL is poised to make significant strides in the industrial, manufacturing, and energy storage sectors.
