MOVA was founded by inventor and entrepreneur Steve Perlman and incubated by Rearden Companies to provide first-tier motion capture services and develop world-class motion capture technology. MOVA is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Rearden Companies. MOVA Contour Reality Capture, introduced in 2006, was designed from the ground up to capture deformable surfaces (like faces, hands, and cloth), enabling it to pick up the detailed performance of the human body with unprecedented realism. MOVA Contour was first used on The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008) by Digital Domain for Brad Pitt's reverse-aging facial effects, resulting in an Academy Award®. Notably, Brad Pitt was also nominated for an Academy Award® and Golden Globe Award® for best actor for the “Benjamin Button” role, which was the first time a largely computer-generated facial performance had reached that level of acclaim. Since then, MOVA Contour has been used in numerous movies including The Avengers (2012), Snow White and the Huntsman (2012), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow: Part 2 (2011), Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011), The Incredible Hulk (2008), Beowulf (2007), Monster House (2006), War of the Worlds (2005). We're also working on video game projects to improve the level of visual realism possible in console- and PC-based video games while reducing production costs and shortening schedules. Clients include Electronic Arts' The Godfather and From Russia with Love, and Vivendi Universal's Eragon. Our client list includes Disney, Lucas Arts, Marvel Studios, Sony Pictures, Digital Domain, Blur Studios, The Moving Picture Company, Electronic Arts, THQ, Twentieth Century Fox, and Warner Brothers.
