The Montachusett Regional Planning Commission is a regional advisory board that has been providing technical planning assistance to its 22 member communities for 40 years. It is not a federal, state, or county agency, but rather a collaborative body comprising representatives from each member community. Covering an area of approximately 685 square miles and home to around 228,000 individuals as of the 2000 Census, its primary objective is to undertake comprehensive regional planning in the Montachusett region. Founded in 1968, the commission received a $400.00K grant investment on 21 July 2020 from the US Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration.
