Milwaukee Health Services, Inc. is a nonprofit, Federally Qualified Health Center that is dedicated to the mind, body, and spirit of the community. Originally established in 1989 as the ICDP North Side Center, it later evolved into a Federally Qualified Health Center with the help of the Community Health Center 330 Federal Grant.
In 2006, the organization appointed Dr. Tito Izard as the Chief Medical Officer with the aim of relocating and expanding the clinical programs of the Isaac Coggs Health Connection center, which was subsequently rebranded as the Isaac Coggs Heritage Health Center. Over the years, Milwaukee Health Services, Inc. has made significant strides in recruiting and employing a higher number of African American and minority providers compared to any other healthcare practice in Wisconsin.
The company accomplished a milestone by opening the first FQHC immediate care clinic in a grocery store in the United States with the launch of the MHS Convenient Care Clinic in 2009. The year 2010 marked another notable achievement as MHSI recorded its one-millionth medical appointment, showcasing its impact on the community.
The passing of Cicero Caesar Henderson led to the appointment of Dr. Tito Izard as the new President & CEO of the organization, marking a significant transition. Embracing the concept of "Harambee" - pulling together, MHSI has been providing over 30 years of dedicated service with a vision, staff, and community that are deeply committed to its mission.
