The Métropole Aix-Marseille-Provence is a unique metropolitan area created by the MAPTAM law, bringing together 92 municipalities across three departments. It encompasses agricultural, urban, and industrial spaces within the same territory. Serving as a hub for economic, social, and cultural development, the Métropole exercises key strategic competencies that shape the overall growth of the region, including economic development and planning, social and cultural development, metropolitan spatial planning, local housing policy, urban policy, management of public interest services, environmental protection and enhancement, and quality of life policy.
