Marshfield Medical Center Credit Union is a member-owned financial cooperative that was established in 1965 to serve the needs of the medical community and their families. Originally chartered by employees of St. Joseph’s Hospital in Wisconsin, the credit union has experienced exceptional growth since relocating to its own facility in 1985, now situated at 302 West Upham Street in Marshfield. As a member-owned financial cooperative, Marshfield Medical Center Credit Union engages in consumer and residential real estate lending to its members, utilizing their deposited funds to support these activities. With nearly 50 years of experience, the credit union is locally governed by a Board of Directors elected by its members and offers a range of products and services. The credit union is under the direct supervision of the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions – Office of Credit Unions and is regulated by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an independent agency of the U.S. Government. The NCUA administers the National Credit Union Savings Insurance Fund (NCUSIF), which provides Federal Deposit Insurance on member deposits. It's noteworthy that no taxpayer money is used for regulating or overseeing Wisconsin credit unions, as all activities of the NCUA (and the NCUSIF) and the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions – Office of Credit Unions are funded by credit unions.
