Legacy Australia

Legacy Australia, founded in 1923, is a unique Australian charity that aims to provide care and support for the widows and dependants of war veterans who have sacrificed their lives or health. Additionally, Legacy extends its support to the families of Australian Defence Force personnel who have been killed in hazardous service, training, or peacekeeping operations. The organization, which has a slogan of "Supporting our veterans' families," was formed by a small group of World War One veterans who banded together to uphold a "legacy of care" for the welfare of their fallen comrades' wives and children.

Legacy's services reach more than 43,000 beneficiaries across Australia, which includes 1,300 children and 1,100 people with disabilities. This support is made possible through the dedicated efforts of over 3,600 members (Legatees) and community service workers operating through 45 clubs nationwide.
