Larned State Hospital
Larned State Hospital (LSH) in Pawnee County is a psychiatric hospital providing acute care located on a 78-acre campus. It is the largest psychiatric facility in the state and serves the western two-thirds of Kansas with nearly 1,000 employees. It is operated for the state by the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS). LSH has a budgeted capacity of 525 beds. These beds are located in three programs, each with a separate focus.
The Psychiatric Services Program (PSP), the State Security Program (SSP), and the Sexual Predator Treatment Program (SPTP).
Larned State Hospital is the statewide provider of inpatient forensic services for individuals needing evaluations for criminal activity. The institution also provides supportive services such as dietary, engineering, environmental care, laundry, safety and security, and utilities for the institution's clients and for several other state agencies.
As a public service organization, LSH serves Kansans without regard to ancestry, religion, race, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, national origin, disability, or political affiliation. All of LSH programs are accredited by The Joint Commission (TJC). The PSP is the only LSH program that is certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
