Landesa is a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing global poverty and creating opportunities through the power of land rights. The company partners with governments and local organizations to ensure that rural individuals living in extreme poverty have secure rights over the land they depend on. Founded as the Rural Development Institute in 1981, Landesa has made a significant impact, helping more than 720 million people strengthen their legal control over their land in the last five years. Their mission is driven by the belief that when people have secure land rights, they can invest in their land to sustainably increase their harvests and reap the benefits—improved nutrition, health, education, resilience, and opportunity—for generations. The company received its last Venture Round investment on 01 January 2013 from Sahsen Ventures. Based in the United States, Landesa continues to play a crucial role in empowering communities and driving positive change.
