Klever Meat is India's first cultivated seafood company, with the goal of shaping the new era of meat. The world's growing demand for seafood presents a significant challenge, with current supply unable to keep pace, resulting in surging prices that are unaffordable for many. To address this issue, Klever Meat focuses on cultivated or lab-grown seafood, producing real meat directly from animal cells. The process involves taking small cell samples from live animals and nurturing them in a controlled environment with essential nutrients, replicating the natural conditions inside the animal's body. This innovative approach circumvents the need for perilous slaughter, offering a sustainable solution to seafood production challenges. Founded in 2021 and based in Mumbai & Pune, Klever Meat is committed to redefining the consumption of seafood. Co-founders CA Nithin Shetty and Dr Swapnil Kamble share a vision of developing sustainable seafood production. Their collaboration was recognized in the Indian Smart Protein Challenge 2021 organized by the Good Food Institute, where they emerged as winners among over 750 participants. Currently, the startup is engaged in research and development, aiming to launch its proof of concept for Klever Prawns and Klever Shrimp by the second half of 2023. In April 26, 2023, Klever Meat received a Venture Round investment from Better Bite Ventures, signifying a strong show of confidence in the startup's innovative approach to sustainable seafood production. With a focus on B2B operations, Klever Meat is poised to make a meaningful impact on the future of the food industry.
