Kaktos Publications - Εκδόσεις Κάκτος
Kaktos Publications was established in 1975 by Odysseas Chatzopoulos.
During the period 1975-1991, Kaktos released over 2,800 books which positioned the brand as the obvious market leader. The editions of this period belong to the large series of science fiction that made known to the Greek public the work of leading authors of the genre, such as Arthur Clark, Isaac Asimov and many others.
Believing in the necessity of releasing current-issue books, Kaktos innovated by publishing numerous "journalistic" documentaries, in collaboration with several well-known journalists, scientists and public figures. These books and the themes they raised caused a sensation in their day and had a great resonance with the readership.
Since 1991, along with other editions being released, Kaktos has been focusing on the publication of the series "Ancient Greek Literature, The Greeks", with plans to be translated and commented on for the first time in Greece but also internationally – the whole of all the authors of Greek antiquity in various languages. This series, which was awarded in April 2000 by the University of Aix-en-Provence in France as one of the most important projects of our time, and later, in October 2002, by the Pierides Foundation in Cyprus, has so far numbered over 800 volumes and is already, for its purpose, the largest in the world.
In Kaktos Publications, they believe their books shape the cultural life of society and accompany people of all ages on their journey of discovering new stories, ideas, and a new way of thinking.
They are proud of their past and eager about their future!
