Jewish Emergent Network is a collective of seven path-breaking Jewish communities in the United States, united by a vision of revitalizing Jewish engagement. Founded in 2005, the network includes IKAR, Kavana, The Kitchen, Mishkan, Sixth & I, Lab/Shul, and Romemu. The last investment of $3.17M came from the Jim Joseph Foundation in November 2015.
These communities are not defined by denomination or specific religious practices but are dedicated to reinvigorating Jewish life through inclusive and innovative approaches. They have successfully attracted unaffiliated and disengaged Jews to meaningful Jewish practices. Embracing an entrepreneurial spirit, they operate outside traditional institutional models, challenging assumptions about ritual and spiritual practice, membership, staff structures, and physical space.
The Jewish Emergent Network embodies a bold, inspired, and inclusive vision for Jewish life, seeking to advance and transform the landscape of Jewish engagement. With a commitment to creativity and tradition, these communities represent a pioneering force in shaping the future of Jewish culture and practice.
