ION Clean Energy:
Based in Boulder, CO, ION Clean Energy has been a recipient of approximately $85 million in highly competitive U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) awards. These funds have been allocated to support bench-scale and large-pilot testing, including the construction of a new pilot at Calpine Corporation’s Los Medanos Energy Center in Pittsburg, California. The company's innovative technology has been chosen for DOE-funded commercial Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) studies for CO2 capture systems at Tampa Electric Company’s Polk Power Station and Calpine's Delta Energy Center. ION has also secured competitive selection for commercial projects globally, setting the stage for its growth.
ION Clean Energy has successfully demonstrated its performance at the National Carbon Capture Center in Alabama and the CO2 Technology Centre Mongstad in Norway, which is recognized as the world’s largest and most advanced CO2 capture test facility. A pilot-scale demonstration plant, developed in collaboration with key commercial partner Calpine, is scheduled to become operational in 2023.
The company is committed to continued pursuit of DOE funding and commercial opportunities that will further consolidate its position as a leading player in the industry. Notably, the most recent investment round of $45 million was secured in a Venture Round at 04 April 2024, with participation from prominent investors such as Carbon Direct Capital and Chavron New Energies.
