The Internet Society of China (ISC) was established on 25th May, 2001 with sponsorship from over 70 entities including network access carriers, ISPs, facility manufacturers, and research institutes. Madam Hu Qiheng, the former Vice-president of CAST (China Association for Science and Technology) and an Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, serves as the current Chairman. ISC, headquartered in Beijing, boasts a membership of more than 400 legal companies, research institutes, academic associations, universities, and other organizations involved in various Internet-related activities. ISC's primary mission is to foster Internet development in China and contribute to the establishment of an advanced information society. It aims to act as a liaison within the industry, promote industry self-discipline, facilitate communication and cooperation among its members, assist in policy-making, and enhance public awareness of Internet application. With a focus on the Internet industry, ISC is positioned to play a critical role in promoting the advancement of the digital landscape in China.
