Instituto Pedro Nunes is a non-profit private organization founded in 1991, serving as the main link between the University of Coimbra and the business sector in Portugal. With a team of nearly 100 permanent staff, IPN focuses on promoting innovation and technology transfer through three main areas: incubation and acceleration of technology-based enterprises, research and technological development, and highly specialized training. Its incubation and acceleration activities have facilitated the successful establishment and early-stage development of startups, attaining international recognition such as the 1st place in the world award for "Best Science-Based Incubator" in 2010. The statistics reflecting its impact are impressive, including support for over 380 firms, with over 70% in activity, an annual aggregated turnover of over 222 million euros in 2019, and job creation of over 3,250 direct and highly qualified positions.
