Institute for Field Research

The Institute for Field Research (IFR) is a nonprofit organization offering academic excellence in field training and international education. It collaborates with leading scholars from academic institutions worldwide, providing hands-on research programs in Archaeology, Anthropology, and Environmental Studies. The programs are academically rigorous and emphasize student learning, with an annual peer review by the Academic Board. IFR is globally present and embraces a diverse, international student body. Individuals above 18, regardless of their matriculating university, can attend IFR field schools, breaking the limitations of faculty expertise at their home institution and allowing faculty to recruit the best students globally. Students can earn 8 semester credit units (12 quarter credits) through the partner, Connecticut College.
