IIMSAM is an autonomous intergovernmental institution dedicated to the utilization of micro-algae Spirulina against malnutrition. Registered under United Nations Treaty Series No. 37542-37543, the organization operates within the framework of the Free Agreement Treaty for cooperation in scientific research and humanitarian use of microalgae Spirulina as food. It is also accredited as an observer to the United Nations Economic and Social Council at UNHQ in New York. IIMSAM, as an inter-governmental organization, collaborates with various sovereign states to advocate for the use of Spirulina Platensis in addressing the second Sustainable Development Goal of eradicating Hunger and Malnutrition. The institution has implemented initiatives in several countries since 2009, including the Peoples Republic of China, Kenya, Mexico, Haiti, Jordan, Lebanon, Niger, Kurdistan-Iraq, Palestine, India, UAE, and KSA. IIMSAM's focus on addressing malnutrition aligns with the United Nations' principles and commitment to universality and multilateralism through the UN System.
