Heartland Equine Therapeutic Riding Academy (HETRA) aims to enhance the well-being of adults and children with different abilities through equine assisted activities. Since its establishment in 1989 with minimal resources, the organization has expanded to cater to over 140 participants weekly from Nebraska and Iowa. The wide range of services provided, including riding, carriage driving, and grooming, contributes to improved balance and confidence. HETRA's reach extends to individuals with a myriad of conditions such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida, autism, PTSD, and more. The organization's accreditation by the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH Intl.) adds credibility to its operations, recognizing it as the only PATH Intl. Premier Accredited Center in Nebraska.
