Gaia Tech is a Swiss startup that focuses on upcycling residues from the agrifood industry into valuable ingredients for cosmetic, food, and feed manufacturers. Emerging from the research project "Phenoliva", funded by EIT Food and hosted at ETH Zurich, Gaia Tech has developed proprietary extraction technology, recognized for its environmental friendliness and efficiency. The company has demonstrated its potential by successfully concluding the Startlife Accelerator Program and being selected as a finalist in the MassChallenge Switzerland. Additionally, Gaia Tech has secured grants and loans from various organizations including Switzerland Innovation (Tech4Impact), Venture Kick, and the Bern Economic Development Agency to support its growth. In 2023, the company won the De Vigier Award and raised a pre-seed round, with a Fr.480.00K investment from Venture Kick, Foundation for Technological Innovation STI, and SICTIC. Its innovation partners include the Migros Pioneer Fund and Innosuisse. Gaia Tech has commenced pilot production in collaboration with an olive mill from San Marino and aims to expand its product range to enable manufacturers to embrace the circular economy.
