The Food & Fertilizer Technology Center (FFTC) was established in 1970 with the purpose of serving as a knowledge hub for research in the ASPAC region and facilitating the dissemination of findings to extension workers and farmers. The Center was a response to the severe shortages of food and fertilizer during the 1970s, driven by the lack of technical information available to farmers, insufficient fertilizer supplies, and a deficit of improved seeds. The core objective behind the creation of the Center was to address the concerns over food shortages in densely populated Asian countries.
