Fondo Ambiente Italiano:
Founded in 1975, Fondo Ambiente Italiano (FAI) is dedicated to protecting and enhancing Italy's historical, artistic, and landscape heritage for the benefit of present and future generations. With 73 properties, including villas, castles, abbeys, and stretches of coastline and forests, 55 of which are open to the public and 18 under restoration, FAI invites people to discover, experience, and love the beauty of Italy.
FAI plays a pivotal role in organizing national campaigns, opening up historic buildings, museums, and even power stations and train stations to the public. The organization's volunteers are instrumental in accompanying visitors to discover hidden villages, private homes, and solitary towers while organizing special events, conferences, and thematic visits. FAI is also involved in giving people a voice through initiatives like I Luoghi del Cuore (Italian Places I Love), allowing anyone to vote for the places that hold memories and emotions.
With its commitment to preserving and making known the hidden cultural heritage of Italy, FAI serves as a crucial guardian of the country's rich history and invites locals and tourists alike to engage with the lesser-known but equally enchanting aspects of Italy's heritage.
