Federation of Southern Cooperatives

The Federation of Southern Cooperatives is a 55-year-old non-profit cooperative association of black farmers, landowners, and cooperatives, with a mission to catalyze the development of self-supporting communities. Their focus lies in cooperative economic development, land retention, and advocacy. The company's objectives include developing cooperatives and credit unions to enhance lives and communities, protecting and expanding the landholdings of Black farmers, and advocating for public policies beneficial to their membership. They are backed by grassroots organizations and corporate sponsors aspiring to create economic freedom and racial equity. The Federation consists of over 70 active cooperative member groups, uniting more than 20,000 families across ten southern states, particularly in Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina. This initiative, aimed at uplifting underserved farmers through cooperative economics and land assistance, taps into the crucial domains of education and social media.
