Energy Local is a groundbreaking social enterprise focused on bringing communities and local renewables together to create fair energy markets and keep more income in the local area. The company believes that communities should benefit from shifting their energy usage to cheaper times of the day and matching it to local generation. By forming Energy Local Clubs, local renewables can agree on a price for power if households use local renewable power when it is generated. This price is higher than standard generation rates but lower than domestic electricity tariffs. Through collaboration, communities can manage local demand to reduce bills and carbon emissions. Energy Local CIC, established in 2013, is committed to supporting communities and providing them with the knowledge to maximize their local renewable resources.
