Emmaüs Habitat is a Social Enterprise for Housing that has been constructing and managing a social housing park in Île-de-France since 1954, at the initiative of Abbé Pierre. A member of Habitat Réuni, Emmaüs Habitat focuses its strategic development on three main axes:
- Increasing social housing production and renovation to address the housing crisis in Île-de-France.
- Listening to local partners to develop innovative social projects.
- Supporting individuals and families in their residential journey from emergency shelters to independent housing.
The company's social policy prioritizes maintaining a close relationship with its tenants, providing both collective and individual support to enhance their living conditions and sense of community. In 2020, Emmaüs Habitat managed 14,230 social housing units accommodating over 50,000 individuals and employed 248 staff members, including 116 proximity personnel. Moreover, it delivered 1,509 housing units and commenced work on 922 units in new and rehabilitated construction.
As part of the Emmaüs movement, a global solidarity movement against exclusion present in 41 countries across 5 continents, Emmaüs Habitat is affiliated with Emmaüs France, uniting three branches: community, social action and housing (to which Emmaüs Habitat belongs), and solidarity economy and integration.
