Eastern Eight Community Development Corp

Eastern Eight Community Development Corp (E8) is a certified Community Housing Development Organization, established in 1998, focused on providing housing for low-to-moderate income families in Washington, Sullivan, Carter, Greene, Hawkins, Hancock, Johnson, and Unicoi counties. The organization offers a range of services, including pre-purchase homebuyer education, homeownership opportunities, post-purchase homeowner education, foreclosure prevention services, and affordable rentals. E8 hosts over 25 classes annually, facilitated by certified instructors and counselors, with more than 250 participants. Notably, E8 has made a significant impact on the area's housing landscape. Since 1998, it has added nearly $20M to area county property tax values with its programming, and its production of homes has surged over the years. Currently, E8 is strategically focused on subdivision development, with two completed subdivisions and ongoing projects such as the 41-lot Bronson Ridge in Carter County and the Village at King Springs in Johnson City, TN. The organization is also turning its attention to Sullivan County/Greater Kingsport, building relationships and assessing housing needs with community leaders. E8's 17-member staff brings a combined 125 years of housing experience and a comprehensive understanding of community needs, government relationships, access to resources and partnerships, and future regional plans. Annually reaching over 24,000 people, E8 acts as a partner in regional economic development, a liaison and advocate to homebuyers, and an engine for community revitalization.
