The Down Syndrome Association of Central Oklahoma is a non-profit organization with a mission to raise awareness and provide resources, as well as promote acceptance and inclusion for people with Down syndrome. Founded in 2000 by parents of children with Down syndrome, the association offers various programs including parent and educator workshops, an annual conference, new parent visitation and support, frequent parent to parent meetings, D.A.D.S group, and an intern program for college students interested in working with children with disabilities.
This organization plays a vital role in educating communities about the needs of children with Down syndrome. Recently, the Oklahoma City Community Foundation made a $5.00K grant investment in the Down Syndrome Association of Central Oklahoma on 26 July 2023.
With its dedicated focus and the backing from the local community foundation, the association stands in a strong position to further its mission and expand its impact in the United States.
