DeKalb Medical officially became a part of the Emory Healthcare system on September 1, 2018. The integration resulted in the renaming of DeKalb Medical's hospital on North Decatur Road to Emory Decatur Hospital, DeKalb Medical Hillandale to Emory Hillandale Hospital, and DeKalb Medical Long-Term Acute Care at Downtown Decatur to Emory Long-Term Acute Care. This acquisition aims to combine the innovation of an academic medical center with a strong connection to the community, merging the exceptional care tradition of DeKalb Medical with Emory Healthcare's expertise. With more than 800 doctors skilled in 55 medical specialties, DeKalb Medical has been a leader in cancer, heart attack treatment, and orthopedics for the past 50 years.
