CommunityHealth is the largest volunteer-based free health clinic in the nation, serving uninsured Chicagoans for more than 30 years. Founded in 1993, the organization is dedicated to serving the uninsured and underserved in Chicago and surrounding communities. With over 17,000 medical and dental visits for more than 10,000 patients annually, CommunityHealth relies on the time and talent of more than 1,000 volunteers, including 350+ providers. The main facility, the Lederman Family Health Center, is located in Chicago’s West Town neighborhood, while a satellite in Chicago’s south side Englewood neighborhood was opened in 2010. As a volunteer-based organization, CommunityHealth receives no reimbursement from Medicare, Medicaid, or third-party payers and depends on support from individuals, foundations, corporations, and institutions for more than 95% of its revenue.
