Cidera (formerly Skycache)

Cidera (formerly Skycache) was a startup that provided satellite-based delivery of Internet content. The company, incorporated in 1997 and based in Laurel, Maryland, delivered Internet data, such as streaming media, usenet news, and other Web content through its satellite-based distribution network directly to the edge of the Internet. Cidera, Inc. received its last investment of $11.26M in a Private Equity Round from OATV on 01 April 2013. However, as of October 2, 2003, Cidera, Inc. went out of business. Although the company's operations have ceased, its efforts and investments in satellite-based content delivery during its active years contributed to the advancements in Internet logistics and content creation.
