Chicano Latino Youth Leadership Project, Inc. (CLYLP) is a pioneering organization established in 1982 with the mission of cultivating California's future leaders. The non-profit emphasizes the significance of culture, community, college, and careers in preparing students to contribute to the state's economic, social, and political development. Over 5,000 students have participated in CLYLP's programs, highlighting its substantial impact over the years. The annual Sacramento Leadership Conference provides high school students with intensive leadership training, complemented by regional institutes in the San Joaquin Valley, Los Angeles, and the Bay Area. The conference's three core components include guest lectures on California's public policy process, interactions with Latino legislators, and role-playing in public policy development. Additionally, alumni benefit from programs such as the Comcast Fellowship, Ellie Enriquez Peck Alumni Internship Program, Roberto Gracia and Sal Castro Memorial Scholarship Programs, facilitating ongoing professional development and mentorship. The project aims to instill a stronger sense of identity and community involvement in its participants, fostering impactful leadership. With a focus on education, CLYLP has been instrumental in shaping the next generation of leaders in the United States.
