Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) is the Telecom Technology development centre of the Government of India, established in August 1984. Within a short span, C-DOT's telecom switching products tailored for Indian conditions have transformed rural telecommunication, accounting for nearly 50% of the current fixed line infrastructure. The organization has excelled in various telecom domains including switching, optical, satellite, wireless communication, and software. It has transitioned from a closed market to an open and competitive one. Considered a Centre of Excellence in Telecom, C-DOT handles projects of national importance. With government support, particularly in Projects of National Importance, C-DOT aims to maintain its national relevance as an R&D center working on cutting-edge technologies.
