Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE) is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1996 that plays a crucial role in accrediting fire and rescue departments through the Commission on Fire Accreditation International. Additionally, it provides professional designations for fire and rescue officers through the Commission on Professional Credentialing, along with technical and facilitation services for fire departments to assist in strategic planning and analyzing local community risks and hazards through the Technical Advisor Program. Currently, CPSE has over 200 Accredited Agencies, representing both municipal fire departments and Department of Defense fire agencies, and almost 2,100 fire officers who have achieved professional designations such as Chief Fire Officer, Chief Training Officer, Chief EMS Officer, Fire Marshal, and Fire Officer.
