Capbuster is an Irish-based startup founded in 2018, specializing in medical devices. The company's innovative product is a guidewire & balloon catheter combination device designed to penetrate chronic total occlusions in a safe and reliable manner. The device incorporates engineering intelligence previously unused in angioplasty and features a unique patented technology.

The CapBuster device sets itself apart with a male screw-thread on the guidewire and a female screw-thread in the catheter, providing a mechanical advantage for gradual, sustained pressure during the procedure. This enables clinicians to penetrate the most resistant occlusions while exercising absolute control, leading to reduced procedure time, improved safety, and efficacy. In June 2020, CapBuster secured a €40.00K Pre Seed Round investment, with the primary funding coming from EIT Health.
