Brain & Behavior Research Foundation (BBRF) is a non-profit organization focused on mental health research grants. Since 1987, the foundation has awarded over $461 million to fund more than 6,700 grants for more than 5,600 scientists around the world. The foundation is dedicated to alleviating the suffering caused by mental illness by supporting grants that aim to lead to advances and breakthroughs in scientific research. BBRF funds the most innovative ideas in neuroscience and psychiatry with the aim of better understanding the causes and developing new treatments for brain and behavior disorders such as addiction, ADHD, anxiety, autism, bipolar disorder, BPD, depression, eating disorders, OCD, PTSD, and schizophrenia. Notably, 100% of every dollar donated for research is invested in their research grants, with operating expenses being covered by separate foundation grants.
