Blackfoot Challenge is a community-based nonprofit coordinating efforts to conserve & enhance the natural resources & rural way of life in the Blackfoot River watershed. We follow an inclusive process that focuses on building trust between public and private partners. Twenty-five years of outcomes include: - Established 14 landowner-led Vegetation Management Areas to control the spread of noxious weeds and improve vegetative health. - Developed a unique Drought Response Plan for the Blackfoot Watershed, focusing on "shared giving" during low-flow water years to reduce stresses on irrgation and fish; over 100 individual irrigators participating via their own voluntary drought plans. - Reduced interactions between predators, like grizzly bears and wolves, and humans by over 90% over the last 15 years; over 90% of local ranches participating. - Facilitated the permanent conservation of over 300,000 acres of former corporate timberland following a community-driven process to satisfy conservation and community needs.
