The Black Mamas Matter Alliance, Inc. (BMMA) is a pioneering organization dedicated to advancing Black Maternal Health, Rights, & Justice. Founded in 2016, the alliance forms a national network of Black women-led and Black-led birth and reproductive justice organizations. Comprising a diverse range of professionals, including Midwives, OB/GYNs, Nurses, Doulas, Researchers, Public Health Professionals, Perinatal Support Workers, Attorneys, Lactation Consultants, and Artists, BMMA operates across the entire spectrum of maternal and reproductive health.
BMMA stands out as the driving force behind the annual Black Maternal Health Week (#BMHW) Campaign and hosts the bi-annual Black Maternal Health Conference & Training Institute (#BMHC). Its global impact is emphasized as a Global Black Feminist organization that amplifies, offers technical assistance to, advocates for, and convenes the Black Maternal, Perinatal, & Reproductive Health Workforce across the Black Diaspora.
