Biodegradable Future is a South Africa-based startup focusing on sustainability and ESG. The company aims to address the issue of plastic pollution with its organic additives, which enable plastic to biodegrade in landfills and the ocean, ultimately turning into natural biomass. With less than 10% of plastic being recycled due to the high costs involved, the remaining 90% of plastic waste ends up polluting the environment for hundreds, even thousands of years. Biodegradable Future offers a solution in the form of a plastic additive that does not compromise the physical characteristics of plastic goods and can naturally biodegrade when in contact with microbes in landfills, soil, or oceans.
