BASIS is the national trade body for the software and IT-enabled service industry in Bangladesh. Established in 1998 with 18 charter members, it now boasts over two thousand members contributing significantly to the country's software and IT services revenue. The organization’s focus is on seven key pillars, including Human Resources Development, Developing Local and International Markets, Creating a Thriving Ecosystem for Startups, Industry Promotion, Access to Finance, and Formulating Policies to Help Grow Intangible Assets.
The guiding principle of the organization is "Every Member Matters," emphasizing the significance of each member's contribution and ensuring that everyone feels valued and included in the decision-making process. BASIS has also launched a short code (16488) to provide a one-stop solution for member companies, aiming to ensure a positive customer interaction experience.
Notable events organized by BASIS include the BASIS Outsourcing Awards, BASIS National ICT Awards, BASIS Luna Shamsuddoha Award, NASA Space Apps Challenge, APICTA, and their flagship event, "BASIS SOFTEXPO," which is the largest technology congress in South Asia.
In addition to organizing events, BASIS publishes a software and IT service catalog to promote local solution providers to potential business clients and arranges knowledge sharing sessions, seminars, and roundtables. The organization collaborates closely with various government ministries and agencies, aligning with the "Smart Bangladesh" vision of the current government. It also offers IT procurement advisory services to clients in both the public and private sectors.
