The Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS) is Australia's only national institution focused exclusively on the diverse history, culture and heritage of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Australia. As a world-renowned research, collecting and publishing organisation, we promote knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, traditions, languages and stories, past and present. We care for a growing collection of over one million items, dedicated to Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories and contemporary stories. AIATSIS supports and facilitates cultural resurgence of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, creating opportunities to encounter, engage with and be transformed by their stories.
