Area Science Park, founded in 1978, is a national research body based in Trieste, Italy. Over its 40-year history, the organization has cultivated expertise in providing high-innovation services, technology transfer, and research results valorization. Area's primary activities revolve around managing and developing the scientific park, technological entrepreneurship, and advancing technological innovation in the fields of life sciences, innovative materials, and data science. The park houses prominent research infrastructures such as the ELETTRA synchrotron light source, the Free Electron Laser FERMI, and the International Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology – ICGEB. Recently, Area Science Park has launched the Genomics and Epigenomics Laboratory, equipped with facilities dedicated to DNA and RNA sequence analysis, genotyping, and a data center capable of advanced computation and data analysis services. This expansion has facilitated the initiation of research projects in genomics and data science.
