American Society of International Law

American Society of International Law (ASIL) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization founded in 1906 and chartered by Congress in 1950. With over 4,000 members from nearly 100 nations, including legal professionals, academics, and representatives of governments and NGOs, ASIL is dedicated to promoting the study and understanding of international law. The organization holds Category II Consultative Status to the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and is a constituent society of the American Council of Learned Societies. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., ASIL operates various programs aimed at advancing international law scholarship and education, addressing the evolving nature of international law in today's world.
