Aiuká Consultoria em Soluções Ambientais is a Brazilian company established in 2010 in Praia Grande, São Paulo, specializing in the planning, management, and rehabilitation of wildlife affected by oil spills and other environmental emergencies. The company prides itself on being the first Brazilian firm with both national and international expertise in this field, with over 15 years of experience in responding to wildlife emergencies. Aiuká is one of only 11 companies worldwide, and the sole representative from Latin America, actively participating in the development of the global oil spill response system supported by the Oil Spill Response Joint Industry Project No. 20 of the International Petroleum Industry Environmental Conservation Association (IPIECA) in collaboration with Sea Alarm.
Through cooperative agreements, Aiuká collaborates with organizations such as the International Bird Rescue (United States), the Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds (South Africa), and the SeaAlarm Foundation (Belgium), in addition to having a broad network of collaborating institutions within Brazil. The company conducts research and development, formulates Wildlife Protection Plans (WPP), Platform and Vessel Impact Monitoring Plans (PVIMP), and provides training, capacity building, and simulations to meet environmental requirements and to train response teams for wildlife emergencies, particularly in oil and derivative spills, as well as other activities posing a risk to wildlife.
Aiuká operates to international standards, coordinating its emergency response through the Incident Command System (ICS). It boasts two operational centers on the Brazilian coast, equipped for the handling and rehabilitation of wildlife in general, with a focus on oiled fauna.
