Acorn Distributors, Inc. has been providing janitorial and foodservice solutions since its inception in 1976. Founded by Al Wachter, the company started as a small restaurant supply firm in Indianapolis. Notable growth occurred in the mid-1980s when Acorn became a member of the Network Services Co. and the Allied Buying Co., enhancing its buying power and industry contacts, leading to an expansion of customer base and product line. Over the years, the company has undergone significant developments, including relocation, acquisitions, and the establishment of new facilities. Jennifer Rosenberg, Al’s daughter, took over as the second-generation owner in 2005, enabling the company to apply for Women Business Enterprise certifications. In 2023, Acorn obtained its Women’s Business Enterprise National Council certification, solidifying its position with national WBE status.
