Acción Andina, headquartered in Peru, is a Latin-led startup with a mission to protect and restore native forest ecosystems across the Andes. Their goal is to restore 500,000 ha (approx. 1.24 million acres) of high altitude Andean forests by 2045 and preserve the remaining 500 ha of vitally important old-growth Polylepis forests spanning seven countries. Founded in 2018, the startup received a significant £1.00M grant investment on 07 November 2023 from the Earthshot Prize. Acción Andina is making commendable efforts in environmental conservation and is poised for considerable impact in the region.
